Strong Family Values and Building Clients’ Dreams with Exceptional Quality

allows Cascade West Development to be appreciated by the industry and homeowners.

Some builders grow while resting on their laurels, but others take a smarter route by improving while they grow. That is the case of Cascade West Development, which was founded in Ridgefield, Wash., in 1990 by Lloyd Stenersen after he had a successful career in homebuilding. His dream was to have a family-owned business, and he started by building track homes. As the business grew, however, Stenersen was able to offer more options to his clients, something his competition wasn’t willing to do. This level of service and quality worked well and eventually Cascade West evolved into a builder of strictly custom homes.

“2020 marks our 30th anniversary, and though we can say we’ve grown quite a lot, we’ve kept our close-knit community ethics and core of strong family values,” Marketing Manager Tim Holley explains. “This past year has brought us some of the biggest and best home builds that we’ve ever completed. We’ve been lucky to attract homeowners who really appreciate our product and trust us with their vision.”

Cascade West establishes that trust with clients by working closely with them throughout the design/build process. The company understands design and customization of a home can be one of the most fun parts of homebuilding, and it works to create that level of excitement by helping clients become more sure of their decisions. The Cascade West team provides insight and first-hand knowledge throughout the length of the project. Cascade West takes pride in being Clark County’s top custom home builder; one unlike any other in the area.

“The Cascade West motto ‘Our Dream Building is Yours’ isn’t just a piece of marketing – our specialists have tremendous perspective on the things that matter most for our homeowners and are always willing to listen to what they have to say,” Holley notes. “Working together and becoming totally immersed in the way your home looks, feels and functions is what we’re passionate about.

“We also offer more customizations than any other builder around,” he adds. “We’re not just talking about a bigger closet, some colors, finishes or appliance packages. Of course, we do that too, but what we deliver to our clients is beyond every other builder – additional suites, higher ceilings, more storage, extra garage bays, enormous windows, RV parking, bonus rooms, smart home integration, tailored utility rooms, expansive outdoor living and pretty much anything else you can think of.”

The Record Breaker

On top of the high level of craftsmanship and sought-after locations it brings to its projects, Cascade West also can build on private lots or land throughout southwestern Washington and northwestern Oregon. The company is dedicated to providing all elements of the building process to make it as easy as possible for homeowners to realize the dream home they’ve envisioned. Cascade West has the experience and resources for all aspects of any acreage – timber clearing, road installation, powerlines, you name it – and the company meets its clients on site to lay out the house to its uniquely created plans.

“This allows us to create the perfect positioning of the home and articulate its placement to capture all of the best the plot has to offer: the setting sun, the densely forested feel, natural light, panoramic views, and the ability to add separate structures like ADUs, tiny houses or workshops in the future without need for additional costly development,” Holley says. “All of that is squarely within our wheelhouse.”

These capabilities and attention to detail were on display during two of Cascade West’s recent projects. The Aurora was one of the company’s 2019 Clark County Parade of Homes offerings, and was built for a fun-loving family who had creative ideas. With views of the Columbia River and downtown Portland, Ore., the Aurora features six bedrooms (five of which are suites), four full bathrooms, two powder rooms, a sauna, mud and craft room, exercise room, arcade room, batting cage, five-car garage, pool and a basketball half court.

The home’s design includes three large accordion doors on the main level, an additional two accordion doors on the lower entertainment level and a glass garage-style overhead door. When opened, the doors blend indoor and outdoor spaces to create a massive and accessible area for the homeowners and their guests.

“Inspired by the majesty of the Northern Lights and this family’s everlasting love for Disney, this home plays host to enlighteningly open vistas and playful activity,” Holley says. “Like its namesake, the beloved Sleeping Beauty, this home embodies family, fantasy and adventure in their truest form. Visions are seldom what they seem, but this home did begin Once Upon a Dream.

“This home has become a record-breaking award winner resulting in the first and only ‘Best of Everything’ award from the Clark County Parade of Homes,” he adds. “The award combines every category that was voted on by industry professionals: Best Floor Plan, Best Architecture, Best Kitchen, Best Master Suite, Best Outdoor Living Area, Best Entertainment Room, Best Interior Decor, Best Landscaping and the coveted Best of Show. Additional categories awarded to The Aurora were from the viewing public – known as the People’s Choice awards – and they included Best Entertainment Room, Best Outdoor Living Area, Best Landscaping and another Best of Show!

“The crystal sculpture signifies more than an incredible open-concept home,” Holley continues. “It signifies the appreciation for craft, thoughtful design and distinctive styling that Cascade West has become known for throughout the community, as well as the recognition from our peers and partners that a new level of homebuilding status has been achieved. It’s always been a privilege and an honor to build custom homes for our community and now, having set a new Parade of Homes record, we have even more to be proud of.”

Timeless Solutions

Also featured in the 2019 Parade of Homes was the River’s Point, which was named for its position on Dawson’s Ridge, corresponding to Crown Point on the southern side of the Columbia River. Far-reaching vistas, natural splendor and an endless horizon surround the home. With tailored living spaces and refined, luxurious interiors, The River’s Point offers four bedrooms (including two master suites), a home office, three full bathrooms, one powder room, a library loft, two-story great room and blended indoor/outdoor living with outdoor dining, outdoor lounge with fireplace, waterfall feature, and eastern and western observation decks above.

“We’ve always lived by the principles of superior value, quality craftsmanship, distinctive styling and exceptional features,” Holley says. “With these in mind, we’re able to offer more while simultaneously honing in on the exact look, feel and functionality that our homeowners can’t find anywhere else. They come to us with specific needs, aging parents or children with disabilities, and want a tailored space to suit them. Being able to make those dreams a reality is always rewarding for us, especially years later when the solution has proven timeless. We stand behind the work we do.

“At Cascade West, we strive to surpass the needs, wants and expectations of every client and create a home that unifies and compliments their lifestyle,” he adds. “This is what home feels like. This is where family happens. This is Cascade West. Our dream is building yours.”
